Swedish car giant Volvo used Watermedia to create their own bottles of branded water to give to potential customers attending their outdoor ‘Ride & Drive’ events at various UK business parks in the summer of 2002.
To maximise the branding, Watermedia designed over 2000 personalised bottles with custom-designed labels that included a dynamic image of the Volvo’s flagship car, the Volvo S60, underneath their trademark logo. The bottles were gratefully received by business park employees who came out to view and test drive the cars on display.
Lindsey Gilmour of Volvo’s promotional marketing team said:
‘Water is a new way of branding. The sports bottle was given to potential customers to continue our brand exposure.’
Volvo showed that using a novel marketing tool can be a huge success.
‘These sports bottles are ideal for outdoor events, especially during the summer months when people are on the go and get really thirsty, ’ said Gilmour, ‘all our customers really appreciated the personal touch.’ |
